They just called. He's out of surgery and awake, eating ice chips. They will continue to observe him for another hour, and I can't see him until after that, but they say they are going to send him home. "Surgery went well, and he is doing well." Hallelujah! (Wow, I'm wobbly right now, trying not to cry here in the cafeteria... So glad. So relieved. Long way still to go but so grateful to be on the other side of this big step!)
