Although this could change...

We received his schedule for the first week of radiation/chemo treatments to start the first week of January 2023. This still may change pending next week's "analysis and re-evaluation meeting" by the medical team, but in the meantime, everything is still moving forward with the current plan.

Lots of appointments!!! OMG. These treatments won't be the only appointments during the weeks of radiation/chemo. Honestly, so much to keep track of - and so easy to feel like we have no control. Yeesh. Can't imagine anyone trying to manage this all by themselves.

Regardless, we are working hard to tame the chaos and keep track of everything. Doing everything we can to assure the best outcome.

If you are interested in more details, see below.

Basically, he'll have 15-minute radiation treatments Monday-Friday scheduled for late morning/midday (helps us avoid the worst of the traffic getting to the facility in West Los Angeles). Except for Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, we'll be doing radiation treatments before the weekly chemo treatments that will last about 4 hours each. On those days, looks like we'll be doing radiation at 8:30am, then head over to the chemo treatment in another building at the West Los Angeles facility ("WLA"). Which should get us out of there around 1pm - which will help us avoid bad traffic on the way home!

Traffic going in for 8:30am call time will be a bitch, but no big deal. We'll do what we gotta do.

My plan is to do all the driving, although the doctors say he will probably feel fine - they tell us a lot of people drive themselves! I suppose Biff could drive sometimes, but we'll see how it goes, day to day. I'd rather drive, just in case, you know? But if he manages to handle everything easily... Fingers crossed!!!

He'll also need to get blood work done at the WLA lab each Tuesday after that day's radiation treatment - a requirement before each chemo treatment on Wednesdays. Part of how they monitor the impact of the chemo each week, allowing them to adjust as necessary.

Plan is to do this for 7 weeks. Only on weekdays, no holidays. So, I think he'll be off on Martin Luthur King Jr. Day, but specific times haven't been given to us for anything past the first week yet. Think we miss any other holidays. Well, unless you want to count New Year's Day Observed on January 2nd. LOL

Life sure is a crazy journey.

  2. Assuming this is you, Mark? Anyone using a non-gmail email address shows up as Anonymous. Sorry about that. Not sure about visitors. Maybe you can email him directly? Don't think he'll be up for trip to Laguna, and his immune system will need to be extra protected during all this, so I don't think we'll be able to manage it. Remotely possible on the Saturday/Sunday, but he'll be having radiation treatments every week day for 7 weeks, and the commute already sucks! LOL Sure do appreciate the offer though. Sounds dreamy, I must admit. Hope you guys have a nice new years weekend!
