He's got some pep in his step today...

Biff is doing better today. He slept pretty well last night. And, once again, easy traffic made the radiation appointment relatively quick.

He's trying some "Naked" health drinks today. So far, not bad. The little cup of pears didn't work out too well though. He loves pears, but they had no flavor at all. We're gonna try just throwing those in smoothies going forward. Regardless, he has better energy and higher spirits.

Our plans for the day got a little off, so I'm not gonna go to the laundromat today after all. 😭🙄🤗 Aiming for very early on Thursday now. 🤞 I can make myself do it after Long Wednesday tomorrow.

Love the wind today - clear and sunny skies are so pretty.

I'm doing better remembering to breathe today, myself...

For the fun of it, I'm adding a little story illustrating how there is always good and bad in everything (which I think is the message for Everything Everywhere All At Once, for the record) which you can read via the "Read more>>" link below if you feel like it.

Otherwise, wishing all you sweet people a pleasant day.

The main exit out of the medical center onto Wilshire to get onto the 405 freeway North is kind of a mess. And after the recent rain storms, the potholes were getting bad right where you have to turn onto it. So, the other day, we were happy to see a crew working on fixing those potholes when we were driving in for treatment.

Except we had no idea how we were going to get back to the freeway when we were done. It's a messy interchange, having to move left a lane, then back right a lane, and often snarled in gridlocked traffic crossing both ways. But, still, that's the way we'd always gone home.

Now, the radiation building is on the other side of the complex from the main entrance, and I'd noticed the intersection where we turn into the complex there allows you to turn the other direction out of the complex and into the surrounding neighborhood. (The main drive is a big loop all the way around the complex and most offshoots send you to additional buildings.)

So, I pulled out my handy Google Maps app, and we went that way to find another route back to the freeway. And, wouldn't you know, it was much faster, shorter, and easier than the usual route out the main entrance! A random little gift from the universe.

Life is such a strange beast!

Oh, wow, and here's a secondary update for today:

We've been worried about a tire pressure warning light on the car, although we didn't see any obvious problem with any of the tires and had ordered a gauge to check them that should arrive Thursday. The previous owner had advised that warning light goes off a lot for some reason. Still, we damn well don't want to end up with a flat tire during all this craziness.

In the meantime, Biff wanted to take the car to our awesome mechanic, Mike, who takes great care of us and our cars and has for years now, but having the time and energy was being tricky.

Anyway, today, instead of driving himself to the closer facility for the "day before chemo" lab work before we went to the radiation appointment (which has been the previous practice), he waited until after we'd gotten back home and had lunch. It went super fast, too - no line at all (so we'll keep that switch!).

It's the only thing he's been driving himself to lately. It's very close, and he's very familiar with the drive, so no worries about confusion or fatigue.

Today, he's feeling good enough that when he got back from the lab, he called Mike to ask if he could come by to have the tires checked, and Mike (as always) said sure. Biff warned him that he might not recognize him without his beard, which made Mike insist he come by so he could check it out (pretty sure Biff hasn't told him about the cancer).

Well, Biff just called to tell me we are getting 4 new tires. All four have dry rot, and he says when he saw the problem Mike showed him he realized we've been lucky not to have a serious issue on the road (how blind we can be in the haze of all this - both of us looked and managed to miss seeing the problem!!!). So, we are saved by Mike once again. So grateful to have a trustworthy mechanic that is always willing to help us out. He always kept our old cars running for years longer than expected.

Whew! Lucky. Just hoping Biff doesn't end up too exhausted waiting for the work to get done. One of those times having just the one car is annoying. But, I also know Biff feels good that he's managed to take care of this himself. It's good for him to feel functional while he navigates through this wretched treatment. I know it depresses him that I have to help him with so much. Hooray, Biff!

Now I'll start researching how to fix the lighting in our kitchen that decided to get funky day before yesterday...

As a truly funny lady once said, "It's always something."
